Unfortunately, millions of women and their partners are faced with this often-devastating condition. Simply stated, infertility means the inability to conceive after 12 months of unprotected sexual intercourse. There are numerous causes that lead to infertility and the first task at hand is to determine the cause or causes in a specific patient. This will usually involve several tests and/or procedures.
Our office offers the following:
- Semen analysis to rule-out “male factor” infertility
- Basal body temperature charting
- Ovulation assessment
- FSH, LH and Prolactin levels at multiple stages in the menstrual cycle
- Progesterone level assessment and supplementation
- Post-coital tests to examine motility through the cervical mucus
- Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) to study the anatomical outline of the uterus and the patency of the fallopian tubes
- Endometrial biopsy to determine the effectiveness of the uterine lining
- Ultrasound to determine times of ovulation
- Diagnostic and therapeutic laparoscopy
- Medical ovulation induction
- Intrauterine artificial insemination in the office
- Insemination with “donor” semen in couples with “male factor” infertility
- Co-management of in-vitro fertilization (IVF)
We feel strongly about helping patients conceive if it is their desire to do so. We will work with you through this process and do our very best to help you achieve your goals. During your evaluation and treatment we will offer you education, counseling, internet-based research resources, and referral to a reproductive endocrinologists should the need arise.
You will find our staff knowledgeable, caring, and sensitive to your needs during this often-difficult process. During cycles in which you are attempting conception, you will have twenty-four hour access including holidays and weekends to our physicians and staff to answer your questions.
