Certainly you are the most important member of the "team". The remainder of the team will consist of highly skilled birthing center nurses, our experienced office staff, our certified nurse-midwives, and our physicians. To the extent you desire, we will do our best to involve your family and your baby's father in the birth as they too are important members of the team.
Certified nurse-midwives are experienced registered nurses who have completed an intensive postgraduate program. ore than 20 major colleges and universities across the United States offer master's degree programs in nurse-midwifery, including Emory University in Atlanta. Our nurse-midwives are licensed by the State of Georgia to practice midwifery and credentialed by the hospital to assist and manage births. In additional to being nationally recognized health care specialists who assist women in having their babies, they also handle routine gynecological health needs.
They are particularly skilled in providing personalized, supportive care to women and their families during labor. Furthermore, they are always available to our patients for assistance with breast-feeding and other new parent concerns. We believe the team approach to pregnancy and childbirth offers you the absolute best possible combination of professionals with varying experiences and expertise.
